A Parent's Nightmare: This Company Guessed My Son's Prescription 😡
I want to share my cautionary tale about ordering glasses online, an experience that was beyond frustrating. We ordered a pair of glasses for our 12-year-old after he found them using the virtual try-on, but he said he had trouble seeing with them. We went back to the doctor to check everything, and he informed us that the pupil distance (PD) was incorrect. The glassesusa site does not prompt you to provide the PD number, and if you don’t know to provide it, they will just assume a value. Of course, that means the value will be wrong for many buyers. This massive oversight, coupled with the inability to reach a real person, forced me to repeatedly contact their email support to fix a problem they created.
Customer: My son’s new glasses are unusable. Our eye doctor confirmed the PD is wrong. Your website assigned an adult PD to a child’s prescription without ever asking for the measurement.
CS Rep: I am very sorry to hear about the issue with your son's glasses and the frustration this has caused. Our system should have prompted for that information. Could you please provide me with the order number and the correct PD from the doctor?
Customer: The order is #XXXXXX. The bigger issue is your return policy. You expect me to send these back and leave my 12-year-old without glasses while you remake them? After it took days just to get this email response?
CS Rep: I understand completely. That is a major inconvenience, and I apologize. To expedite this, I can process the remake order right now with the correct PD. We will ship the new pair out, and you can use the same box to return the incorrect pair with the prepaid label we'll include.
Customer: Fine, but how long will this actually take? The last thing I want is another two-week wait and more emails that go unanswered.
CS Rep: I will personally oversee the order and put a rush on it. You should have the new, corrected pair within 7-10 business days. I've also added a note to your file and will send you a direct follow-up email with the new tracking number.
The reason I left this review on the website is to hopefully prevent other parents from falling into the same trap.
